The Story of the Sappa Creek Massacre, 23rd April, 1875.
by Andrew Hogarth & Kim Vaughan.
Based on oral history as told by Southern Cheyenne traditional
tribal historian Chief John Sipes Jr. Hogarth and Vaughan have
investigated the Indian version of the massacre using original
source material including that of the late Mari Sandozs
work. This story challenges the commonly recorded version of the
massacre based on the military report of the officer in charge,
Second Lt. Austin Henely. The twenty four page booklet includes
photographs of the site, computer maps of the area and the evolution
of the incident. Includes sketches of native people by Australian
artist Paul Farley.
